Shopping Tips to Keep You Safe During a Pandemic

A global pandemic doesn’t keep you from running out of toilet paper and bananas. You need the essentials! Here are a few tips from the CDC to help keep you safe and healthy while you shop

  1. Stay home if you’re sick! Consider other options like home delivery, where your shopping can be done without having to leave your home.
  2. Order online or through curbside pickup. These are smart ways to shop even if you’re not sick.
  3. Only visit brick and mortar stores serving household essentials when you absolutely have to. Online ordering is a much safer way to shop to lower the spread of any virus.
  4. Use hand sanitizer after leaving the store. Make sure to wash your hands for 20 seconds with warm water for proper cleansing.
  5. If you must visit a store, keep these tips in mind:
  • Keep at least 6 feet away from other patrons or store employees.
  • Cover your face and mouth with a mask or cloth.
  • Use disposable gloves to touch items within the store. Be sure to remove gloves after you leave the store and before touching any of your personal items like your purse or car door handle.
  • Visit off-peak hours, when there are fewer people in the store.
  • Disinfect your cart or basket with a handheld wipe or spray.
  • Do not touch your face, especially your eyes, nose or mouth.
